Patterns and Pastels!

Patterns and Pastels!
Hello all, Hope everyone is having gorgeous weather, and looking great in their vintage swimsuits suggested by The Country Rose , if you haven't read this fabulous article then, click here!
Anyhow , i really need to do an interior blog for you guys, since i have been covering all the events recently!

Today i am going to do a boys room for everyone , shabby chic style!
Patterns and Pastels, i love both those words to pieces and i personally think they are two words combined for life!

Lets start off by the wallpaper, many people could think this is a tough thing to select, but is couldn't be anymore simple! The trick is to take the pattern from the wallpaper and use it for other little touches in the room like a cushion or use to make a patch work quilt or rim the curtains with it! If you can't find material in the same pattern as your wallpaper you simply pick a colour from it and yes that colour , it all ties in well which ever way you do it!
This is a simple and easy yet effective wallpaper for any room!
Lets take a look at some selections i have made for wallpapers...
I love this pattern and chose it in particular because it had more than one colour in it giving you a wider choice of accessories!
Right now then , having showed those wallpapers it sometimes can be nice to simply have pastel walls and a patterned carpet, For example:

The furnishing in this is quite cunning , with a mix of modern and shabby chic styles! for example the bed is modern , yet the chair and back cabinet are shabby chic!
Now you are probably wondering , how i will do the furniture! well this is easy too! Shabby Chic is by far not just a feminine thing, take a look at this furniture, it is just so cute!
I have never seen anything like this bed, i love it, one of a kind , so unique!

These cabinets give off that old vibe , but are still cutting edge in style!

Last but not least, the lovely plush chair!
Striped , or neutral colours with a pillow on to add some colour maybe, make a great chair!
Well there you have it! It is easy to make a boys room when you know how! As always comment questions and ideas for future articles below! I hope you enjoyed this article and as always follow us and support us on our websites! For more information click here! Thank you for reading :) Have a lovely week, Much Love, Buttercup x

Space...How to use it?? x

Hey Everyone!! I Hope your having a great Half-term, i know i am! Sorry we haven't updated the blog , since Easter but i hope that has given you a chance to explore old articles!!

Today's article is about Space! When designing any room , you must factor in space as a main thing. People say the more space the better , but i think that more space equals more gaps to fill and you can often get the "Over the top" affect. Small spaces can also be a challenge but with the right ideas and a lot of enthusiasm, small spaces can often look nicer, in my opinion, than bigger spaces. Shabby Chic designing is about feeling fresh, feeling relaxed and feeling free, but space isn't the key to that...

You will notice that in Shabby Chic interior , carpets aren't often  used normally floor boards or tiles depending on the room. This creates and open airy feel as supposed to the carpets which suggest a more cosy , sitting by the fire with a cup of tea, vibe. You may say well that vibe sounds nice and yes i will agree it does , but Shabby Chic is about being open and if a room in open it looks bigger than it may actually be.

When applying furniture to a small room you must always think necessitous for example a bedroom, furniture you must have is a bed and then storage in which ever form you wish , Chest of Draws, wardrobe etc... then there is the things that may be nice to have for example a bed side table, or a dressing table, or blanket box. You can't have all these things without it looking crowded, so you must pick and choose!

As i have said soo many a time accessories can make or break the room, they are my favorite things by far!

I have soo many articles about each of the subjects i have talked about, that unfortunately often get forgotten as they were wrote in 2012 , so i do hope everyone remembers that when designing a room , my tips are found throughout all my articles. Today i don't have a lot of time to talk , however...
If you are thinking about designing a new room, and want to emphasize a certain wall. Maybe the wall were a main feature of the room is for example in a living room a fire place.  Ever thought about using a feature wall here are 3 top things to think about if you do?

1. Does the paint for the other walls match the feature wall paper.

2. Were is your furniture going to go? How will it fit into the layout of the room??

3. Think very carefully about which wall you are comfortable with having a pattern on.

Hope that helps anyone thinking about redecorating!! :) Buttercup xx

Learn to Shabby Chic and Decoupage with Butterup, my Co-Writer!! x

Hey Everyone, i am The Country Rose's friend Buttercup. In fact if you look on the website i am the co-writer and co-manager!! How exciting is that?? Anyway i am a massive fan of shabby Chic interior so i thought i would tell you a bit about it! The interior of Shabby Chic is a vintage styled interior however it doesn't have to be vintage to create the look of Shabby Chic!
Shabby Chic  - The easy way!!
An easy way to perform a quick and easy Shabby Chic makeover is To transform your chest of drawers!
First of you simply would paint it an undercoat of the colour you want to show through (it could just be wood in which case you don't have to paint it) Leave to dry!
Then simply paint over it , with a different colour ; when this has dried simply get some sandpaper and sand paper away part of the top coat were you want to to make an authentic look!
You could also add some Decoupage to this look. What is Decoupage though buttercup you may say? Well lets find out...

Decoupage
Another Great thing to do is Decoupage , Many people decoupage their mirror frames it is a wonderful creative thing to do!
You Start off by buying some pictures or tissue paper. The best thing to do it with is thin tissue paper made specially for doing decoupage. Which you can get from some craft shops. It is a simple thing to do , here are some simple instructions:
1. Start off by making sure the item you are going to decoupage is dry and clean (if you are going to paint it first make sure it is completely dry first)
2. Cut out squares of tissue paper or pictures you want to use!
3. Arrange the layout you are going to stick your pictures/ tissue paper!
4. Working in small areas of your frame at a time, take off your bits of tissue paper / pictures and apply them back on with glue, brushing the glue all over the paper!
5. Smooth each bit down carefully using your finger.
6. Continue this until it is covered all over and you are happy with the result.
7.leave to dry then you are ready to use your decoupage furniture!

And their you have it , i am a fan of decoupage myself and it is fun to do i can tell you! You can add decoupage to all kinds of furniture, chairs, wardrobes, tables, chest of draws etc.. the list goes on! What i love about decoupage is you can personalize it yourself with your own pictures and it is a great thing to do on a rainy day! So Try it yourself to get the best out of your furniture!

Hope you enjoyed my first section ,
Buttercup :D xx
