The Classic 1940's!

Hello All! I hope you liked the Photos, but it is time for another weekly interior Blog!!

We went to the Vintage fair on Saturday it was fab and later on this week we shall share our day with you, when we get the chance to! So keep Checking!!

Today we are traveling back to the good old 1940's , I simply loved the Kitchens in this period, full of bold colours and shapes! There was always one significant colour that stands out from the rest of them, often taken from the primary colours, Red, Blue, Yellow! Lets take a look at some typical gorgeous 1940's styles...
Here are some Classic kitchen Units , you can find some separate standing ones in antique shops today!!

The dominant colour here is Blue! Just Look at the classic Curtain drapes, so sweet, they just makes the room along with the gorgeous patterned flooring.
Another Primary colour for a dominant stand out bright colour!

This one has a dominant of Yellow , and is cleverly tied in with hints of yellow, the space in this kitchen is cleverly used and the shape of the room really gives it that extra edge!

Here is a more modern version of a 1940's kitchen, notice the glass bricks on the counter, a cutie classic there!!

A gorgeous example here, just gorgeous!!
Well there you have it some cute 1940's Kitchens, the 1940's was a dramatic time as i am sure you know as World War 2 took place in the first Half of the Decade and The second half of the decade was spent putting it right!! So they did well to have made such Lovely , cheerful, inspirational Kitchens!

Thank you For reading and Supporting!! Don't forget to check the Blog for regular updates, Please comment questions below, or tell me any historical facts about the 1940's as i am by far a historical expert! Also if you have any subjects you may wish me to write about, or any time periods , then please comment below, any specific rooms, anything just comment below and i shall try my best to respond to them! Thank you again for reading , much Love , Buttercup x x x

Space...How to use it?? x

Hey Everyone!! I Hope your having a great Half-term, i know i am! Sorry we haven't updated the blog , since Easter but i hope that has given you a chance to explore old articles!!

Today's article is about Space! When designing any room , you must factor in space as a main thing. People say the more space the better , but i think that more space equals more gaps to fill and you can often get the "Over the top" affect. Small spaces can also be a challenge but with the right ideas and a lot of enthusiasm, small spaces can often look nicer, in my opinion, than bigger spaces. Shabby Chic designing is about feeling fresh, feeling relaxed and feeling free, but space isn't the key to that...

You will notice that in Shabby Chic interior , carpets aren't often  used normally floor boards or tiles depending on the room. This creates and open airy feel as supposed to the carpets which suggest a more cosy , sitting by the fire with a cup of tea, vibe. You may say well that vibe sounds nice and yes i will agree it does , but Shabby Chic is about being open and if a room in open it looks bigger than it may actually be.

When applying furniture to a small room you must always think necessitous for example a bedroom, furniture you must have is a bed and then storage in which ever form you wish , Chest of Draws, wardrobe etc... then there is the things that may be nice to have for example a bed side table, or a dressing table, or blanket box. You can't have all these things without it looking crowded, so you must pick and choose!

As i have said soo many a time accessories can make or break the room, they are my favorite things by far!

I have soo many articles about each of the subjects i have talked about, that unfortunately often get forgotten as they were wrote in 2012 , so i do hope everyone remembers that when designing a room , my tips are found throughout all my articles. Here are some links relevant to this article you may want to check out:

And here are some from earlier this year...
Wallpapers or Feature Walls (from 2012)

And my personal favorite article, even though it may be short and sweet...
That Cute Little Touch!!

I hope these articles help, And don't forget to check out article from 2012 from The Country Rose and Snowdrop too!! Thank you For reading

Spring Cleaning With a Twist!! x

Spring Cleaning with a Twist!!

Spring has arrived! The season of new life , the season of a fresh start!
Everyone has a little spring clean around this time of the year, but why just clean why not add a splash of spring here and there a little outburst of light and colour!

But what could you do, to add some spring enthusiasm to your rooms! Well there is the easiest center pieces of flowers! Flowers are so under rated you don't need to buy a permanent center piece sometimes a new colour is nice it gives a fresh open look. A little change is something people notice and can enjoy without it being overwhelming! There is no need to re-decorate every year, your house can be an on going project, but sometimes that little burst of energy can put a smile on a face!

There are so many to choose from and they don't break the bank either , they are just as i like to say "That cute little touch" http://www.vintagecountryrose.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/that-cute-little-touch.html - Check out my other articles!

Flowers can make the feeling of spring i don't know what the weather is like were you are but i know here in Norfolk it looks like it is still the middle of winter outside and it feels like it too. However it is almost Easter!!

You can incorporate flowers into accessories and cute little touches already in place , like this magnificent bird cage for example...
This is a really sweet bird cage , and the flowers are the icing on the cake they may not be real but they add to it to make a welcome and relaxing atmosphere!

Of course, having real flowers is a real burst of energy, well that is if you can remember to keep watering them, i know how hard it is to look after plants sometimes! But nothing bad ever comes out of trying haha!
Check out these lovely , gorgeous flowers that deserve pride of place in any room...

These are an out burst of colour and energy to lighten up any room in an instance!

you can incorporate flowers into accessories to last all year round as well like this for example...

This is a gorgeous and detailed floral heart that adds a sense of welcome and sweetness to the home!

Oh Flowers they are just the best! You can do so much with them , they are probably one of my favorite sources of decoration!! So fresh and bright and energetic! They always make my day!

Thank you to you all

Vintage and modern are best friends if you think it through!! xx

Best Buds are Modern and Vintage...
Modern day appliances are something we nowadays find it hard to live without so can you incorporate them into big designs??

Interior for me is a way to express yourself in your home. It doesn't matter to me so much what others think as the idea is that you personalize it so someone knows it is YOUR room. It is a place that is you a place you can go to for support , a place you can stay in for as long as you want!

But how would you express yourself?? Well through colour, through words , through accessories  through statements (for example statement mirrors, check out my other article: www.vintagecountryrose.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/buttercup-statement-mirrors-xx.html )
Rooms need to be helpful and fit to your everyday needs for example if you have a collection of some sort you could devise a vintage compartment look at this one...

There are so many different ways to express yourself but for me it has got to be one colour that stand out from all the rest in  the room a bright colour that you love like this, for example...

Vintage doesn't mean old! You can combine modern day appliances into your design especially for places like the kitchen as i said sometimes the accessories tell the whole story and make the room...

Modern and Vintage are best friends if you just take the time to think it through and include accessories! People miss them out, and think well the main plan is more important but sometimes one accessory can influence your whole room design!! Don't leave accessories till last they can MAKE or BREAK a room!!

Haha again, please comment if you have any question or have a specific subject you may want me to write about .... Thank you , Buttercup xxx

Wallpapers :) xx

Wallpapers!
Hey everyone  , Its buttercup here sorry updates are less regular now but we all have been very busy recently. Today i am talking about wallpapers. In my eyes the wallpaper is the one thing that you can splash out on a bit so today i am going to put some wallpaper designs together with some paint to show you that it doesn't cost a lot to go shabby chic!

You see the way i see it the main influence when you transform a room is the paint and wallpaper. Later on (maybe in a different article) i will show you my dressing table which i made as i am transforming my room shabby chic style, i hope it will encourage others to do the same. As i have said before it doesn't have to cost a fortune to shabby chic your room it took me one small pot of paint for my dressing table and chest of draws. I have now started to search for my luxury wall paper. I have always been a massive fan of Cath Kidston and you may be thinking but i thought we were trying to keep the cost down. Well as i say the wallpaper is the thing that clearly says what design genre you went for be it modern, casual, shabby chic etc..

Now baring in mind that i am basing mine on a feature wall layout the average room would need about three rolls of wallpaper. This is my actual wallpaper in my room right now! I really LOVE it , it is so sweet, and full of colour. You can get it in two colour's, off white and blue.

Birds & Roses Wallpaper

Below is the link that will take you straight to it so you can see it in green! It is a Cath Kidston and it is my favorite out of the range currently on the website.   Cath Kidston   (click link)
It is £25.00 a roll with postage and packaging varying from £3.95-£10.00 ( this price includes international deliveries)

My next one shall be selected again from the Cath Kidston range it is again £25.00 and p&p rates the same it is also in duck egg blue and again the link will be below :)

This Gorgeous Rose wallpaper , is a burst of colour and passion!

Now the last one i shall select will not be from Cath Kidston but from a A cute UK wallpaper website

At Only £6.99 a roll :)

I Just love the contrast of the two patterns floral and dots

So they you have it be it designer brand or not you can have a room that looks amazing :) Watch this space for my next article which is proof of my attempt to shabby chic furniture . Hope you liked it , Buttercup x

If im totally honest , i had a really awful 2012 , so i want to have a great new year. And I want you to have one too! This isn't going to be my last post of the year , but i want to list my top ten favorite things this year! Vintage wise of course!

1. The Body shop!
I absolutely love this shop , and im surprised i didn't shop there much , but i really started to pay attention to it in 2012. The beautiful natural lipsticks , the makeup , the body moisturizers , all wonderful and good for the planet ! A really great shop that will always stay in my favorites.

2. Rings!
As if you couldn't tell by most post on rings , i absolutely love them .In all shapes and sizes, whether for humorous values , like my cute accessorize moustache ring , that i can't help but adore , to my FAVORITE , my topshop flower ring .

3. The Volkswagen Beetle !
Whether it is the old model of the beetle
Or the newer brands ...

I can't help but love them. Buttercup would prefer one in red, Tiger-lily , My beautiful friend :) , likes them in baby pink , but I have always loved them in light tea green. What about you ?

4. Peter Pan collar tops!
Those tops with the cute collars , that buttercup has a lot of.They really help to spruce up any plain top , and make it fashionable and modern. We at Vintage Country Rose adore.

Buttercup has this one !!!

5. Messy bun's
You dont have to worry about how messy your hair looks anymore,  with the messy bun you can assure yourself that you always look stylish , without having to re-do your hair every five minutes. For a casual senorita like myself , this is ideal , for no stress in the mornings , so maybe you can get to school on time for once ;) Isn't that right Tiger-Lil?

Buttercup's beautiful messy bun there guys :D She was born to be a model you see!

6. Indie Music ( YES)
I must confess something , my dear readers...I hate pop music , and skrillex ...did i spell that right? I have no idea.I will explain why you see , they repeat the same couple of lines over and over! And dubstep is just noise! Not music at all.( in my opinion :) )

I love indie music , and most other genres. So im happy it was in this year , so its easier to be able to find new songs.I love the sound , and it fits vintage really easily .

7. Red Lips
Red lips were back in this year , i do love a little pop of colour on my lips , so it was so cool!

8. Patterned leggings
They have been  all around this year , not just in winter , but even in summer. Whether Christmas themed , with reindeer and snowmen or with aztec patterns and bold colours. They are so easily wearable , they really brighten up an outfit!

9. Knee- high socks!
Every shape and size can appreciate these amazing wonders! With many different colours and lengths to choose  from, there is a style or everybody (: They are quirky, fun and are great for expressing individuality.
( By the way hai ^^ I'm Tiger-lily, and I'm in love with socks (: oh and Buttercup and The country Rose  who is also elvis:- which changes everything. . . obviously (; <3) xx

10. Khaki jackets
We likey. Lots and Lots, which is all we can say. We can also say that it makes us feel powerful >:)  Mwahahahahah We shall over ride the world!! (with our AWESOMENESS, oh and with our khaki jackets !

Have a wonderful year you lot , and please continue to bring those ratings up in the new year. Good luck! And hope you have a wonderful time !! :D

Norfolk , ideal for Vintage

If you love Vintage things , norfolk is really a wonderful county to be in .I think something about the sea air makes people decide to make lots of little cute decorations ! There are so many little shops around norfolk , near the coast , or closer to land , all selling very beautiful little trinkets and decorations. I love all these little shops , and i have always wanted to work in one .

They all sell little hanging decorations. I love them , if you have a blank space in your house , you simple have to put up one of these , they really look lovely .

Whats more , they make stunning gifts for close friends and family .Nobody can resist the charm of a beautiful hanging decoration , im sure !
Another thing lots of norfolk shops sell that i love , are little signs. No matter how big or small , they are simply beautiful .

Whether they are posh little Shabby chic ones or proper old fashioned signs , they are all stunning to look at .And they make great things to talk about in your house , immediately grabbing attention. Humorous ones are even better , even if what they have on them isn't that funny.Norfolk really is the perfect place for that sort of thing .

Lately I have been LUSTING after these tremendously beautiful photo albums to but photos in , but whenever i see one in a little shop , i never seem to have money on me.But i am determined to get one , one of these days ! They are so pretty and ornate , and it would  make my pictures look even more special

Thanks for reading ,
Your pal
